Photoshop is very good
at photo-compositing. Here's a tutorial on using fusion masks for blending
2 (or more) images together.
I
download 2 pics of the same bike (Honda Hornet) in 2 different colors
to illustrate the tutorial.
The
yellow bike is on a separate layer above the blue one.
Althought you don't need to make a selection, we'll make one to
illustrate the relationship with one. So, using the markee tool,
make a selection
Now
shift-click the create fusion mask icon on the layers palette and
here's what you should get :
Alt-click
the mask to edit it. Now add gradients (black and white only). You
will have to make a new selection for each gradient if you don't
want to overide the previous gradients.
The white parts
let the image go through and the black don't.
Here's
the result.
You can use just about evey tool to modify the fusion mask (drawing
tools, filters, image modifiers...)

This tutorial
was made for someone who asked me. please email
me to give me your thoughts, ways of improving and to tell me
how hard you found it so I can make a difficulty rating on future
tutorials. thanx a bunch :o)
